Enforcement Officer 100%

The Justizvollzugsanstalt Witzwil executes sentences and measures for 184 adult men in open prison sentences as well as in administrative detention under immigration law. The inmates are guided and supported in various professions in agriculture, trade, and supply according to labor pedagogical principles. In the penal system, around 140 employees work consistently towards the goal of socialization and reduction of recidivism of the prisoners. Production goals and enforcement goals do not compete, but rather complement each other.

Your tasks

As an Enforcement Officer, you are responsible for the leadership, care, and social work of 8 - 10 admitted persons.

• Creating enforcement plans as well as writing enforcement progress reports for the admitting authority and courts
• Performing social service tasks
• Responsibility for the structured course of residential group life
• Designing a socially compatible environment for the inmate to fulfill the legal mandate
• Professional handling of conflicts, resistance, and emotionally taxing situations
• Accompanying leisure and employment offers
• Close interdisciplinary cooperation with internal and external bodies
• Completion of demanding administrative tasks
• You actively contribute to efficient and humanly respectful cooperation and act according to the guiding principles of the Justizvollzugsanstalt Witzwil. On a rotational basis, you perform day, late, and weekend shifts

Your profile

• Training in the social or pedagogical field
• Ideally demonstrate several years of professional experience
• Respectful and professional handling of people from different cultural backgrounds
• Resilient, stable, and capable of accepting criticism personality
• Enjoy working in a team and are interested in and open to new things
• Very good written German skills as well as good oral French skills
• Proficient handling of common PC applications

About the Amt für Justizvollzug

The Amt für Justizvollzug (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and youths within the Sicherheitsdirektion des Kantons Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the office has four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the guarding station at the Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as probation and enforcement services at its disposal.
