As a non-profit operation of the Stiftung Blindenheim Basel, irides AG stands for lived participation and professional support. At several locations in the middle of the city, it opens up new perspectives for people with health restrictions and simultaneously creates meaningful jobs for people with support needs. irides is a place that offers both residents and employees space for personal development and combines care, living, working, and community in a holistic way. From August 2027, we are offering an exciting apprenticeship position as Cook EFZ Tobias Giger, vocational trainer, tells you what your apprenticeship with us could look like: During your three-year training, you will gain in-depth insights into our operation's kitchen. Throughout your entire training period, you will be closely supported by me as a vocational trainer and my team, individually promoted, and specifically prepared for the successful completion of your apprenticeship. You will learn "mise en place" and prepare the work equipment and ingredients so that the various dishes can be prepared and processed efficiently. You will prepare cold and warm salads, cook appetizers, main courses, side dishes, meat and fish dishes as well as desserts for our residents and guests. Additionally, you will order food, check its quality, and ensure professional storage. Your other tasks include assembling menus as well as the appealing plating of food. Your Profile • Completion of secondary school in the Leistungszug E (or Leistungszug A with good academic performance) • Joy in cooking and in the careful handling of food • Sense of responsibility and reliability • Ability to work in a team • Physical and mental resilience • Willingness to work irregular hours • Good oral German skills Our Offer We offer you professional training and comprehensive support by experienced professionals. You will receive 4-6 days of individual learning support per training year to look at various topics, whether academic or practical. You will work in a well-coordinated and motivated team. The irides AG is located in the heart of the city of Basel and is very easy to reach by public transport or bicycle.
