What you can contribute

• Actively contribute, as a member of the management, to the strategic development of the office
• Lead the International Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters division, comprising about fifty employees, in terms of tasks, finances, personnel, and organization
• Assume responsibility for cooperation with authorities of other States in criminal, civil, and administrative matters and make decisions of principle in complex mutual assistance cases
• Lead legislative projects in the field of international mutual assistance and contribute to the evolution of the legal framework
• Represent Switzerland during negotiations and within international organizations and negotiate international treaties as well as other instruments of cooperation
• Maintain strategic relations with national and international partner authorities and develop cross-border cooperation

What makes you unique

• University degree in law; a bar admission, a doctorate, or an LL.M. is an asset
• Several years of experience in management positions; proven expertise in Swiss law coupled with sharp knowledge of international mutual assistance is an asset
• Experience in matters of legislative procedure, international negotiations, or collaboration with Swiss and foreign authorities
• Ability to analyze complex legal and political issues, to develop practical solutions, and to reconcile divergent interests
• Strong management, communication, and negotiation skills, diplomatic skill, and political sense
• Very good active knowledge of two official languages, passive knowledge of the third, and very good knowledge of English

It ensures the legislative support for normative projects originating from the entire federal administration. It works with foreign authorities in the fields of mutual assistance and extradition. The OFJ represents Switzerland before the European Court of Human Rights and in many international organizations. It carries out its activities in a multilingual context.
