In this senior role based in Baar, you will lead and oversee the medical strategy and its execution for a dynamic portfolio in hemato-oncology, ensuring that solid evidence and scientific knowledge are translated into beneficial practices for patients. Missions: • Medical Strategy in Hematology: Develop and implement an integrated medical plan for Switzerland, aligned with global, regional, and local priorities, based on scientific differentiation and patient needs. Be responsible and co-develop the scientific and strategic agenda of the hematology portfolio. • Scientific Leadership and Evidence: Provide scientific leadership across the hematology portfolio, covering evidence generation, launch preparation, market shaping, and stakeholder engagement to drive clinical adoption. • Team Leadership and Skill Development: Lead and develop the hematology medical team, building a high-performing, inclusive, and responsible culture through coaching, feedback, and skill development. • Strategic and Enterprise Impact: Act as an enterprise leader in translating scientific knowledge into strategic choices that produce measurable impact for patients and the company. • Evidence Generation and Partnerships: Support local evidence generation, including clinical trials, real-world data, investigator-sponsored research, and collaborations with academic partners to address data gaps and inform practice. • Engagement in the External Ecosystem: Establish trust partnerships in the healthcare ecosystem, including hematology experts, academic networks, transplantation and CAR-T centers, as well as patient organizations to accelerate appropriate care. • Preparation for CAR-T and Advanced Therapies: Provide strategic leadership for CAR-T and advanced therapies, covering launch preparation, reference pathways, treatment center preparation, and navigation of the broader cellular therapy ecosystem. • Interfunctional Alignment: Collaborate with interfunctional colleagues to ensure integrated planning and aligned execution across medical, commercial, market access, and regulatory interfaces. • System Transformation: Establish high-value, close partnerships in a highly specialized external landscape. Identify and drive opportunities to improve diagnosis, reference pathways, care coordination, and access for patients in Switzerland, creating clarity, focus, and accountability in a rapidly evolving environment. • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements as well as local and global policies and guidelines of AstraZeneca. Essential Requirements: • Advanced scientific degree in a relevant field (MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent) • More than 7 years of experience in medical affairs in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry • Solid experience in oncology/hematology, with prior experience in hematology required • Prior experience in the CAR-T industry essential, including launch preparation, operational understanding of cell therapy pathways, and knowledge of the cellular therapy ecosystem, as well as reference pathways and treatment center preparation • Proven leadership experience, including team management and/or leadership of a therapeutic area • Solid track record in evidence generation, scientific engagement, launch preparation, and interfunctional collaboration • Experience collaborating with study groups, academic networks, and investigator-sponsored research • Demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguity and complexity in a rapidly evolving environment • English proficiency; German or French is an advantage Desired Skills/Experience: • Prior experience as a Therapeutic Area Lead or in a comparable senior medical role • Experience working with Swiss hematology centers, CAR-T/transplantation centers, and academic networks Why AstraZeneca: Here, science and strategy meet to change clinical practice.
