Convinced that "each and every one can make a difference", the Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève (HUG) have founded a Centre de l’innovation with the aim of improving and evolving the hospital. A unique platform for exchange, the Centre promotes collective intelligence by allowing the collection, valorization, and realization of the best ideas from the staff. Both a competence center and a collaborative workspace, the Centre de l’innovation (CI) of the HUG offers a set of services to evaluate, support, mature, promote, and valorize the innovative ideas and projects of the staff and HUG structures. A laboratory for experimentation, a catalyst for change and participatory approaches, the Centre de l’innovation offers different ideal spaces for collaborative workshops or for events. A pioneer at the European level in the hospital environment, the Centre de l’innovation has evolved the intrapreneurship model by weaving close links with the Patients partenaires (PP) project. This close collaboration with the PP platform has deployed its effects and benefits in the development of solutions close to the needs of the patient population. Strategic Project Manager – 80% to 100% The HUG are implementing their new institutional strategy articulated around five strategic axes. Research and innovation occupy a central place there in order to energize research, innovation, and digital transformation. In this context, the flagship achievement "Programme de recherche translationnelle" of axis 3 of the institutional strategy aims to better structure, simplify, and connect the entire research and innovation ecosystem in order to accelerate the transfer of scientific discoveries to clinical practice. This program will cover the protection of time dedicated to research, better support for obtaining funding, the dissemination and protection of results, as well as support for the transition from research to spin-offs. Coordination between the various institutional actors supporting research will also be strengthened. As a Strategic Project Manager, you occupy a key role in the central steering of the flagship achievement. Reporting to the Centre de l’innovation, the strategic project manager is responsible for the coordination and operational implementation of this flagship achievement in collaboration with the reference managers and the program mandates. The position involves regular interactions with clinical departments, research laboratories, academic partners, as well as with governance bodies. You prepare and lead the steering bodies, coordinate working groups, and ensure global monitoring of the expected deliverables and indicators. The deliverables are as follows: Structuring and visibility of the research and innovation ecosystem You coordinate the realization of a mapping of actors, services, infrastructures, laboratories, and processes covering the entire value chain, from fundamental research to valorization and technology transfer. You coordinate the development of tools allowing these resources to be visible, accessible, and easily mobilizable by researchers, clinicians, and academic and industrial partners. Structuring of pathways and standardized processes You analyze existing processes and coordinate the implementation of standardized procedures aimed at clarifying, harmonizing, and accelerating translational research. You notably coordinate the optimization of administrative, ethical, contractual, and invention announcement processes. Strengthening support structures and improving coordination You identify organizational bottlenecks and propose measures allowing for the strengthening of research support structures. You promote coordination between the different directorates and entities involved in research, innovation, valorization, regulatory affairs, partnerships, and funding. You contribute to the implementation of a clear and effective governance of the translational research ecosystem. Development of protected time for research You pilot the implementation of an institutional framework allowing equitable access to protected time for research. You participate in the definition of allocation criteria, monitoring mechanisms, and associated HR tools in order to promote the development of research activities. Implementation of a translational committee You implement a translational committee responsible for evaluating and supporting projects with high clinical, scientific, translational, and commercial potential. You develop a proactive scouting approach with laboratories and clinical teams in order to detect early projects with high clinical potential and commercial impact. Funding, valorization, and technology transfer You contribute to strengthening access to competitive funding and the resources necessary for project development, and are in charge of designing processes and making them intelligible for partners.
