Deputy Director, Head of Governance Directorate

This is your contribution • Holistically lead the central control and coordination element of the NDB and ensure full substitution of the Director. • As a member of the Executive Board, share responsibility for the strategic direction, governance, and overall management of the NDB. • Be responsible for political affairs, international relations, communication, and relations with supervisory authorities. • Be responsible for the quality and coherence of the office and directorate management as well as the implementation of complex projects, ensuring service-wide coordination in the process. • Be responsible for the holistic, cross-departmental coordinated further development of the service (strategy and innovation). • As the Deputy Director, represent the NDB at the highest level of stakeholders on a national, international, or multilateral level, chair conferences on its behalf, and conduct negotiations and discussions with significant and sometimes difficult and controversial content. What makes you unique • University degree or equivalent training with an FH-degree EMBA or a solid police career with at least ten years of professional experience, preferably in a security policy-oriented organization. • Team player, co-responsible for strategic office management as a member of the Executive Board. • Experienced and proven in the strategic and operational leadership of a complex unit in a dynamic and volatile environment (at least ten years). • Proven and broad experience in security policy (domestic and foreign). • Leadership personality with assertiveness, negotiation skills, visionary thinking, and interdisciplinary expertise. • Excellent understanding of the political, legal, ethical, and technological challenges of an intelligence service. • Experience in managing complex projects with a track record of success. • Excellent editorial skills. • Very good knowledge of the political conditions at the federal level. • High resilience, willingness to make decisions and implement, planning and organizational skills. • Ability to represent the own official business within the Executive Board, towards the Department, the Parliament and other stakeholders, as well as abroad. • Very good active knowledge of two official languages, passive knowledge of the third official language, as well as very good English skills. • Swiss citizen with an impeccable reputation. The NDB deals with the early detection and combatting of terrorism, violent extremism, espionage, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery technology, as well as cyberattacks on critical infrastructures. In addition, the NDB procures and evaluates information that is important for security policy. In this way, it provides decisive contributions to the comprehensive assessment of the threat situation. At the federal level, the NDB primarily serves the Federal Council, the Departments, and the military leadership with its products. It also supports the Cantons in maintaining internal security and the law enforcement authorities at the federal level.
