Your contribution

• Process monitoring data on metabolites of plant protection products in groundwater, together with data on authorized application quantities and sales of the corresponding active substances
• Collect the Predicted Environmental Concentrations (PEC) in groundwater, derived from the European authorization procedure for the metabolites detected during monitoring
• Characterize land use in the recharge sectors/catchment areas of groundwater abstractions
• Develop a model to classify recharge sectors into vulnerability classes

What distinguishes you

• PhD in environmental sciences, agronomy or a related discipline
• Experience in analyzing large datasets, preferably with R software
• Knowledge of GIS analysis is a preferential qualification
• Good communication skills, ability to work independently and pragmatically
• Knowledge of two official languages

In summary

With the revision of legislation regarding water protection, in the future, even non-relevant metabolites of plant protection products must comply with the limit value of 0.1 µg/L in groundwater. Within this project, commissioned by the Federal Office for the Environment, possible implementation variants of the legal provisions relating to non-relevant metabolites in the recharge sectors of groundwater abstractions will be examined. The objective is to develop a series of practical criteria to evaluate and manage the use of plant protection products.
