• 22 August 2026 • 80 - 100% • Indefinite duration • Windisch Flexibility, freedom of creation, creativity, interdisciplinarity - this is how we work ## Laboratory Manager (80-100%) # FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Institute of Thermo- and Fluidics ## Your tasks : L-Institute of Thermo- and Fluidics (ITFE) of the FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland combines practical teaching and applied research and development. In collaboration with industrial partners, we develop innovative solutions in the fields of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and energy technology. We use modern simulation, testing and measurement methods and work closely with national and international partners. In this way, we contribute significantly to the development of efficient and future-oriented technologies. Your tasks : • Laboratory organization and safety: responsibility for the operational status of the laboratory infrastructure, maintenance of facilities and compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations. Organization of the use of the laboratory and infrastructure • Construction of test benches: 3D-CAD modeling (preferably with Siemens Solid Edge) of test benches and experimental setups in collaboration with our project managers and external clients • Construction and assembly of installations: mechanical assembly, piping of test benches for gases and liquids • Measurement techniques and sensors: support for our assistants and scientific collaborators in the selection, integration and calibration of sensors for physical quantities such as pressure, temperature, flow rate and flow velocity. Manufacture of special solutions (e.g. fast thermocouples and dynamic pressure tubes) • Support for teaching and research: accompanying students in their project work, participation and organization of laboratory exercises Your profile : • Training: completed apprenticeship as a polymechanic CFC, constructor CFC or installation and equipment fitter CFC • Professional experience: several years of solid experience in the construction of technical test benches, prototype construction or industrial development of thermofluid systems • As a generalist, you possess an interdisciplinary technical understanding of process chains (the product from sketch to manufacture, assembly and maintenance) and interfaces (understanding the language of the constructor and the fitter) and bring a technological mix of mechanics, electrical engineering, pneumatics and hydraulics. Proven mastery of 3D-CAD systems, preferably Solid Edge • Practical knowledge: practical experience in the use of fluidic components (pumps, valves, compressors) as well as in measurement, control and regulation technology (MSR) is an advantage. You can quickly familiarize yourself (also through self-study) with new areas, software tools or client requirements • Desirable additional skills: welding and hard brazing of stainless steel and experience with technical adhesives • Project management: you can autonomously plan, coordinate and control your own projects in terms of deadlines and costs • Problem-solving skills: you quickly find pragmatic solutions in case of unforeseen problems • Social and communication skills: you communicate successfully with different target groups at different organizational levels FHNW services provide various services and systems to universities and their students.
