University Professor

The employer is looking for a:

Assistant Professor of History (reported profession)

Tasks:

• teach university History courses at various levels, including first-year seminars, courses with a significant academic writing component, and concluding seminars of the Bachelor's track.
• normally conduct six courses per year (18 US credits, equivalent to approximately 36–38 ECTS).
• design and conduct courses with an integrated academic travel component (Academic Travel).
• develop interdisciplinary, experiential, and project-based teaching activities.
• conduct historical research activities and produce scientific publications, including academic articles, monographs, book chapters, and other contributions recognized in the discipline.
• collaborate with colleagues from other academic areas and with external partners.
• provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
• participate in academic committees and institutional activities, contributing to the development of university programs.

Requirements:

• doctoral research degree (PhD) in History, obtained by the date of hire.
• solid disciplinary preparation and strong interest in university teaching, preferably in small class sizes.
• teaching experience or ability in various geographical areas and historical periods.
• documented scientific activity, appropriate to the stage of the academic career, and a clear research program.
• interest in innovative and interdisciplinary teaching methods, including experiential teaching.
• ability to collaborate with other faculty members and willingness to participate in the life of the institution.
• excellent command of the English language, the language of instruction.
• experience in the US liberal arts university system is particularly appreciated.
• knowledge of a Swiss national language is a preferential qualification.
• driving license cat.B
