Social Worker in Winterthur Prison 60 - 80% # Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is, as part of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich, responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1'400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of convicted persons and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance. Die Hauptabteilung Untersuchungsgefängnisse Zürich (UGZ) - one of eight main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional arrest, investigative detention, and security detention. As part of die Untersuchungsgefängnisse Zürich (UGZ), the Gefängnis Winterthur (GFW) takes on central tasks in the area of detention without judgment. The focus is on investigative and security detention as well as the admission of persons in provisional arrest. For this, a total of 101 detention places are available. For the Social Service specialist department in the Gefängnis Winterthur, we are looking for a responsible, dynamic, and team-oriented personality as of 1 October 2026. Your tasks ### • Individual and independent casework • Resource-oriented counseling and support of incarcerated persons in relevant life areas such as housing situation, finances, and social insurance • Planning and coordination of stay design, reintegration, and transition management (e.g., connection to Economic Social Assistance, placement with work partners and external agencies, transfer to the execution of sentences and measures) • Interdisciplinary cooperation with internal departments such as Medical Service, supervisory and care staff, Psychiatric-Psychological Service, as well as with external agencies such as criminal investigation authorities, probation and execution services, social offices, social insurance, KESB etc. • Further development of the Social Service area in investigative detention • Transfer of the pilot project «Modellversuch Untersuchungshaft Kanton Zürich / Kanton Bern» into regular operations Your profile ### • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a comparable degree • Ideally professional experience in judicial execution or in dealing with delinquent persons • Independent, reliable, responsible, and careful way of working • High social competence and psychological resilience as well as empathy and assertiveness • Flexibility and enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation • Proficient German in speaking and writing, knowledge of other languages an advantage, good IT user skills • Impeccable character Our offer ### • An exciting, versatile activity in an extraordinary environment • A motivated and committed team • Independent work in the assigned area and cross-departmental co-responsibility • Regular working hours • Terms of employment according to cantonal guidelines Your application ### Take the next step in your professional career with us and send us your application via our online tool.
