The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and consultations for industry, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy creates trust, especially on a social and political level, and is essential in very many areas: in road traffic, electricity billing, time transfer, measurements in the environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, different specialist areas meet and complement each other – and this since 1862.

Your new challenge

• Leading the internal position in all matters regarding national and international metrology law and ensuring legal advice, particularly in administrative, contract, and procedural law
• Editing and reviewing contracts and drafting legal opinions and reports, especially for the executive management
• Leading the Legal department with two employees in technical, financial, personnel, and organizational respects
• Leading legislative projects in the field of metrology and shaping the further development of the legal framework, supporting statements within the framework of agency consultations
• Conducting proceedings as well as preparing decrees and submissions to courts

Your profile

• University degree in law, additional qualification such as bar admission, doctorate, or foreign degree (for example, an advantage)
• You have at least 10 years of professional experience in court, administration, or advocacy. Sound knowledge of the legal processes of the federal administration and proven expertise in public law, experience in legislation and cooperation with authorities at home and abroad
• You bring leadership, communication, and negotiation skills as well as teamwork, diplomatic skill, and political savvy. You are solution- and result-oriented, with networked, conceptual thinking and enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation. Resilience and composure even under time pressure complement your profile
• You have excellent editorial skills in at least one official language, good active knowledge of a second official language and in English and, if possible, at least passive knowledge of the third official language
• You are responsible, pragmatic, and service-oriented
