The Justizvollzugsanstalt (JVA) Hindelbank is the only correctional institution for women in German-speaking Switzerland with 107 prison places. All forms of criminal and measure execution are offered; from high security, closed and open execution to external work placement. The admitted women live in residential groups and work in various work areas. The time in the JVA Hindelbank is intended to enable them to meet the requirements for reintegration into society in order to lead a crime-free and self-responsible life after release.

Your tasks

During your shifts, you take responsibility for the management of the residential group with 23 admitted women.
In doing so, you provide resource-oriented support, undertake control tasks as well as conflict and crisis management, and act as an authentic counterpart to the admitted women.
In case management, you coordinate and control the processes of execution planning for the inmates assigned to you within the framework of Individual Execution Management. In doing so, you work in an interdisciplinary network both internally and externally. You organize and lead discussions, write reports for the referring authority, and are entrusted with the professional documentation of cases.
As a reference person, you are the first point of contact for the inmates assigned to you. You accompany them professionally and in a resource-oriented manner in psychosocial and social work issues, promote their personal responsibility, and support them in the development of perspectives.
You coordinate cooperation with external organizations and ensure the necessary networking, especially within the framework of release preparation.

Your profile

You have a FH degree in Social Work or a comparable qualification. Professional experience in criminal justice execution or in a stationary setting is an advantage.

With your specialist knowledge, you enrich our multi-professional team and enjoy working in a dynamic environment with clear structures. Flexibility, resilience, enthusiasm, and teamwork skills are required.

You possess organizational talent and are used to working interdisciplinary. You are also experienced in handling IT applications. You also maintain your ability to act, keep an overview, and your sense of humor even in complex and challenging situations.

You appreciate the freedom of irregular day and weekend shifts and are willing to take on an average of two weekend shifts per month as well as three to four on-call shifts per year.

Good and stylistically confident German (oral and written), French (oral), Spanish and other languages are an advantage.

About the Amt für Justizvollzug

The Amt für Justizvollzug (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of criminal sentences and measures for adults and adolescents with around 1000 employees within the Sicherheitsdirektion of the Canton of Bern (SID). To fulfill this task, the office has four concordat correctional institutions, four regional prisons, the guarding station at the Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as the probation and execution services at its disposal.
