In cooperation with the relevant services of the Confederation and the Cantons, it develops the necessary legal bases, strategies, concepts and systems and issues instructions to the border control bodies of the Cantons and the Confederation. In addition, it conducts sanction proceedings against air transport companies for violation of obligations under foreign national law and represents the office in national and international committees.
