Senior Hardware Engineer Dive Computers 100% (m/f/d)

SCUBAPRO - UWATEC develops dive computers for demanding sports and professional divers in Switzerland. Our products combine electronics, software, sensors, mechanics and demanding validation in a safety-relevant environment. As part of the Johnson Outdoors Group, we work internationally, with development in Switzerland and series production in Asia.

To strengthen our R&D team in Spreitenbach, we are looking for an experienced, pragmatic and highly team-oriented Senior Hardware Engineer.

Your Task

You will take on a central role in the hardware development of our dive computers and accompany electronic assemblies throughout the entire product lifecycle: from concept and circuit design via prototypes, bring-up and validation to series production, sustaining and production support.

Your tasks include in particular:

• Development of analog and digital circuits for compact, robust electronic products
• Hardware design involving microcontrollers, sensors, battery operation, charging electronics and communication interfaces
• Schematic and layout work in Altium Designer
• Bring-up, debugging, measurements and root-cause analyses on prototypes and series products
• Support of validation, EMC/compliance topics and technical documentation
• Close cooperation with the teams from firmware development, mechanical development, manufacturing engineering/production, as well as suppliers and external development partners
• Support of series production, especially regarding production problems, supplier changes, obsolescence topics and test fixtures
• Assessment of technical risks and development of pragmatic, industry-ready solutions

Your Profile

You are an experienced hardware engineer who works pragmatically, takes responsibility and feels comfortable in a manageable, SME-characterized development environment with broader responsibility. You work independently, proactively drive technical topics forward and work closely and constructively with the hardware team as well as with other specialist departments. You actively share your knowledge and enjoy not only developing products but also accompanying them throughout their further lifecycle.

You bring with you:

• Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, embedded systems or comparable training
• Several years of industry experience in the development of electronic products
• Experience in analog and digital circuit design
• Good knowledge of Altium Designer or comparable ECAD tools
• Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, battery operation or charging electronics
• Practical experience with bring-up, measurement technology and troubleshooting
• Understanding of series production, DFM/DFT, PCBA manufacturing, production support and technical documentation
• Ability to clearly assess technical risks and find pragmatic solutions, as well as openness to innovation and technical novelties
• You possess strong teamwork skills, enjoy working together with colleagues on tasks and contribute constructively to joint solutions.
• You contribute technical arguments and risks openly and can constructively support project and management decisions made after joint consideration
• Good German and very good English skills

Experience with the following is an advantage:

• portable or battery-operated electronic devices; experience with low-power design
• sensors, wireless communication, Bluetooth or antenna topics
• EMC, CE/FCC, environmental and reliability tests
• production in Asia or cooperation with international suppliers
• test fixtures, PCBA test or production test engineering
• wearables, medical technology, industrial electronics or other robust embedded systems
• interest in scuba diving or own diving experience
