The Mittelschul- und Berufsbildungsamt is the competence and service center for vocational training, gymnasiums, higher vocational education, and continuing education in the Canton of Zürich. We support and accompany the secondary schools, the vocational schools, the providers of vocational preparation years, and the training companies.

The legal department is located within the staff of the MBA and ensures legal specialist and advisory competence within the office. We are looking for a Jurist/in (80%) starting on 1. February 2027 or by arrangement. The position is fixed-term until 31.01.2028.

Your area of responsibility ###

In this versatile and responsible function, you are the central legal contact person for the office management as well as the departments of the MBA. You provide competent advice in exciting areas of law such as secondary school, vocational training, procurement, IT, and data protection law, thereby making an important contribution to the further development of the education system. Furthermore, you actively participate in legislative projects, draft decrees as well as statements in appeal proceedings, and prepare decision-making bases for the Regierungsrat, the Bildungsrat, and the Bildungsdirektorin. The examination and drafting of contracts also belongs to your varied area of activity.

Your profile ###

You are a committed and experienced Jurist/in (MLaw or lic. iur.) with proven knowledge in general administrative law. Ideally, you also bring know-how in IT and data protection law and are interested in legal issues related to digitalization in the field of education. Thanks to your quick perception, you also penetrate complex facts quickly and recognize the decisive legal core issues. You work in a structured, independent manner and with high diligence - and maintain an overview even in demanding situations. As a solution-oriented personality, you convince with linguistic precision, a confident appearance, and strong negotiation skills. You communicate clearly, appropriately for the addressee, and contribute your expertise effectively.
