Do you wish to combine forestry expertise, management, and strategic vision in service of a territory with multiple challenges? The Commune de Montreux is looking for an engaged and unifying personality to lead its forestry section and contribute to a sustainable and resilient management of its forest heritage, particularly in the face of climatic, environmental challenges and natural hazards.

The Municipalité de Montreux is announcing a competition for the position of :

Main tasks:

• Define the strategy and lead the activities of the forestry section
• Unify, support, and develop the team
• Lead forestry projects and coordinate contractors
• Plan work programs, projects, and budgets
• Ensure financial, administrative, and subsidy monitoring
• Organize the valorization and marketing of forest products
• Develop collaborations and partnerships
• Promote the forest through popularization and awareness actions
• Assume the duties of forest ranger for the Montreux forest district in accordance with legal provisions

Desired profile:

• Bachelor's degree in forestry engineering or equivalent HES/university training oriented towards forests and/or the environment; or ES forest ranger diploma completed by specializations
• Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in the responsibility of a forest district, ideally in mountain and/or protective forests
• Proven experience in team management and solid mastery of project management
• Unifying leadership, autonomy, spirit of initiative, and ability to work with various partners
• Acute sense of planning, organization, and responsibility
• Excellent communication, popularization, and negotiation skills
• Good mastery of forestry and environmental issues: climate change, natural hazards, forest fires, biodiversity, and environmental protection
• Good knowledge of federal, cantonal, and communal legislation
• Sense of public service, team spirit, and excellent physical condition
• Mastery of common IT tools (office and messaging) and ability to use specific forestry and geomatic applications, such as Lotus Notes / Sylvdégâts, Arview Geonis, ForstBar Latschbacher
• Knowledge of a public administration, an asset

Special conditions:

• Holder of a permit to use toxic products
• Holder of a category B driving license (light vehicles)
• May be subject to on-call duty
• Must be reachable by mobile phone
