Research Assistant AI and Digitalization in Production (50 %)

Do you want to participate at the interface of digitalization, Industry 4.0 and applied research? As part of two Innosuisse projects, we are developing an AI-based assistance system for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) as well as a hardware system solution for end-to-end automated material flows in the Smart Factory. The Institute for Product Design, Development and Construction IPEK at OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule accompanies companies throughout the entire product life cycle - from the first idea through development and implementation to the after-sales sector. The institute unites experts from different disciplines around the product and develops holistic solutions for complex issues thanks to its interdisciplinary orientation. Further information about IPEK can be found at: OST IPEK ### Your tasks • Operative coordination of cooperation with industry and research partners as well as internal teams and specialist departments within the framework of the Innosuisse projects • Technical and methodological collaboration in defined work packages for the development of innovative solutions for industrial production systems with a focus on AI and digitalization and automation/embedded systems • Ensuring goal-oriented, structured and timely project implementation • Close support of the project management in planning, execution and documentation of the projects • Support in institute activities in applied research and development as well as in teaching Your qualification • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, business informatics, electrical engineering, production technology, computer science or a comparable field of study • Interest in digitalization, Industry 4.0, automation, embedded engineering and modern production systems • Basic understanding of production processes as well as ideally initial contact points with MES systems • Affinity for generative AI and its integration into existing IT and production environments • Knowledge of low-code/no-code approaches, data analysis or programming as well as simple mechanical development and embedded engineering are an advantage • Structured, methodical and reliable way of working • Confident appearance in the coordination and alignment with different stakeholders • Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation between research, industry and teaching • Strong communication, solution-oriented and committed personality Your benefits with us Questions about the application process Sandra Isenring HR Business Partner sandra.isenring@ost.ch About the OST The OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule is an intercantonal and interstate university of applied sciences with locations in Buchs, Rapperswil-Jona and St.Gallen.
