Background:
The Circle “Pharma Engineering Drug Substance” is looking for an Automation Engineer Pharma Engineering (m/f/d) with a focus on programming (especially PCS7) for the Basel location.
The Circle “Pharma Engineering Drug Substance” offers professional engineering services to internal customers in the areas of research, development, launch, and market production at the Basel location.
The activities include the planning, realization, and operational engineering of the production plants.
Furthermore, customers are supported in idea generation and concept creation of new, innovative solutions for designing efficient production processes. Orders and projects are processed without hierarchies in self-organized specialist teams with a new delivery model. This requires a high degree of self-organization, foresight, and team spirit, as well as strong communication skills.

As an Automation Engineer Pharma Engineering (m/f/d), you will support existing and new automation systems that are or will be integrated into the Roche infrastructure. The process plants to be supported have a very high degree of automation and are strongly networked with each other and/or with superior IT systems.

The perfect candidate: brings a completed vocational training or a degree as a technician or engineer in the field of automation, electrical engineering, technical computer science, or a comparable specialty. We are looking for a personality with at least three years of professional experience in the automation environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as sound knowledge in the GMP and GAMP environment. In addition, very good user knowledge in Siemens automation software (PCS7, S7, TIA, WinCC) is required. An independent, responsible way of working, high service orientation, and reliability characterize the profile. Very good German skills in speaking and writing are required; English skills are an advantage.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Operational engineering with the goal of ensuring the maintenance of production at all times

• continuous optimization of the process plants and evaluating, testing, and recommending new technologies
• collaboration in interdisciplinary composed teams with internal and external employees and companies
• independent collaboration in automation projects in all project phases with responsibility for costs, deadlines, resources, and technical solutions
• support during audits and inspections by internal bodies and authorities in the area of GMP and SGU
• ensure 24/7 support as part of a 24/7 support team

Must Haves:
Completed vocational training or studies as a technician / engineer in the field of automation, electrical engineering, technical computer science or similar

• Min. 3 years professional experience in the automation environment, preferably with a pharmaceutical background
• Very good user knowledge in the field of Siemens automation software PCS7, S7, TIA, WinCC
• Sound experience in the GMP and GAMP environment
• Independence, initiative, and integrity as well as very high service orientation with a high sense of duty
• Very good German skills in speaking and writing are required, English skills are an advantage

• High social competence, ability to work in a team and very good communication and coordination skills, also when dealing with stakeholders and at all levels
• Enthusiasm as well as an independent, customer-oriented way of working
• Questioning conventional patterns of thought and openness to new, creative ideas - also outside of usual fields (“out of the box thinking”)
• Ability to break down complex matters and communicate them to customers and stakeholders in appropriate language
