Kanton Schaffhausen, Sozialamt The Sozialamt of the Canton Schaffhausen fulfills overarching tasks in the areas of social assistance, alimony assistance, and victim assistance. It is responsible for the licensing, financing, and supervision of institutions for adults with disabilities and is responsible for the licensing of inpatient child and youth institutions and for foster care. Furthermore, the department runs the Fachstelle Gleichstellung, Gewaltprävention und Gewaltschutz. Beyond this, the Sozialamt performs tasks in connection with the accommodation, support, integration promotion, and material support of persons from the asylum and refugee sector. The Rechtsdienst of the Sozialamt, as an important service operation, is responsible for advising and supporting the department management as well as the departments and specialist offices of the department in all legal matters within the department's area of responsibility. It instructs legal remedy procedures, edits decisions, acts as the compensation authority for Opferhilfe, and as a central specialist office in the area of international alimony collection. Furthermore, it develops decrees, consultations, and proposals for the political authorities.
