The Universitäres Zentrum für Palliative Care (UZP) is an interdisciplinary cross-sectional specialty at Inselspital and a central university structure for specialized palliative care, clinical research, and academic teaching. The center offers comprehensive medical, nursing, and psychosocial care for patients with complex, advanced, or incurable illnesses. In addition to inpatient care, the range of services includes specialized outpatient services as well as a consultation service within the university hospital. A particular focus is on interprofessional care, the early integration of palliative medicine expertise into complex disease courses, and the further development of evidence-based, patient-centered care models.

Your Profile
We are looking for an internationally recognized personality with proven clinical expertise in palliative medicine as well as experience in leading clinical structures and interprofessional teams. The future position holder shall strategically develop the Universitäres Zentrum für Palliative Care, strengthen the integration of palliative medicine competencies into various clinical disciplines, and actively help shape the regional and supra-regional networking of Palliative Care.

A strong, internationally visible scientific profile with regular publication activity and successful acquisition of competitive third-party funds is expected. The future position holder shall further expand research in the field of palliative medicine, particularly in health services research and in interdisciplinary research collaborations, and contribute to the national and international positioning of the Bern location.

A strong commitment to student teaching as well as to the education, further education, and continuous training of healthcare professionals is required. This includes the further development of palliative medicine teaching content in medical studies as well as the promotion of interprofessional training formats and the active support of junior researchers.

A habilitation or an equivalent academic achievement as well as a specialist medical title with a focus on SIWF/FMH in the field of palliative medicine are required. Additional qualifications, for example in the field of management or organizational development, are an advantage.

As an integrative and trust-building personality, you possess strong communicative and team-building skills. You promote interprofessional cooperation, integrate different perspectives, and are actively engaged in cooperation with regional and national partner institutions. Furthermore, you advocate for an open, respectful working environment as well as for the promotion of equality and diversity.
