• Lead the Shooting and non-service activities domain and assume overall responsibility for it
• Establish, on a national scale, favorable conditions for shooting and non-service activities, and for pre-military instruction

What makes you unique

• Bachelor, master or equivalent training with several years of professional experience
• Excellent understanding of the political context and parliamentary processes, in-depth knowledge of non-service organizations, shooting, and pre-military instruction
• Negotiation talent, particularly with political authorities and association officials, ability to lead a team in a cooperative spirit, interest in creating and maintaining a network
• Good active knowledge in at least one second official language, passive knowledge in a third and good knowledge of English
• Willingness to perform engagements on weekends
• Military instruction and very good knowledge of army structures and processes desired

In a few words

The organizational unit Shooting and non-service activities, which reports to the Instruction Command, is responsible for the application of the legal bases. This notably involves managing administrative tasks related to mandatory and voluntary shooting, with service weapons and ammunition, organized by recognized shooting societies. This domain also covers the implementation of instructions and non-service repetition courses relating to shooting (shooting instructors, notably for young shooters).
The non-service activities part processes requests, examines if conditions are met and ensures compliance with regulations. Every year, about 5000 events, representing more than 122 000 days of engagement, are authorized and organized.
Voluntary pre-military instruction is intended to prepare young people for service through specific courses, the subjects of which are set by the DDPS.

The Instruction Command (cdmt Instr) is responsible for instruction within the Swiss Army -- from recruitment to the training of cadres for the militia and career soldiers, including general basic instruction. The cdmt Instr includes the Higher Cadre Training, Army Personnel, five application formations, the Army Instruction Center as well as the specialized service Women in the army and diversity. One third of the approximately 2350 employees practice civilian professions in the scientific, technical, medical, psychological, administrative or sporting fields and contribute, along with career soldiers, to the success of the army.

The Swiss Army employs more than 9000 employees in four military professions and approximately 200 civilian professions, across 110 sites throughout Switzerland. It also ensures succession by training apprentices in more than 30 trades.
