Engineer in hydroelectric developments (M/F/D)

A major player in the hydroelectricity sector, the company accompanies its clients throughout the entire life cycle of their projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning, renovation, and the securing of works.

As part of the development of its activities in French-speaking Switzerland, our client is looking for an engineer in hydroelectric developments to strengthen its team based in Martigny or Sion.

Job description

In this position, you will participate in the design, renovation, and improvement of the performance and safety of hydroelectric infrastructures.

Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

• Design new hydroelectric developments in Switzerland, notably in Valais, from the initial studies to implementation.
• Carry out rehabilitation and upgrading studies of existing power plants or developments.
• Coordinate and perform evaluation studies of hydraulic structures such as water intakes, penstocks, lined shafts, pressure tunnels, and tailrace canals.
• Perform head loss calculations and energy yield simulations.
• Estimate project costs and develop implementation budgets.
• Prepare tender documents, participate in the evaluation of bids and the preparation of contracts.
• Collaborate closely with the engineering, design, and modeling teams.
• Ensure technical supervision and site monitoring.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of lasting relationships with clients and partners.

Profile sought

• An EPF, HES Swiss engineering degree or training deemed equivalent.
• A minimum of five years of experience in projects related to hydroelectricity.
• Proven experience in the design and dimensioning of hydroelectric works.
• Good general knowledge of electromechanical and hydromechanical equipment of hydroelectric installations.
• A good mastery of applicable Swiss standards and directives.
• Experience in hydraulic calculations, head losses, and energy yield simulations.
• Good analytical, coordination, and project management skills.
• Excellent oral and written mastery of French.
• Mastery of German and/or English constitutes an advantage.
• An autonomous, rigorous, proactive personality who enjoys teamwork.
