The Office for Secondary Schools and Vocational Training creates the optimal framework conditions for comprehensive training. You will ensure the technical and personnel management of the office and develop viable solutions that have broad consensus for vocational training and secondary school training. You distinguish yourself through your political sense, your strong communication skills, your ability to collaborate reliably with very diverse stakeholders, and your ability to develop your network effectively. Your tasks As head, you lead the Office for Secondary Schools and Vocational Training, which comprises approximately 350 employees. You personally manage ten managers who report directly to you, and are responsible for the strategic and organizational orientation of the office as well as in terms of personnel. You also advise and support the director of public instruction and culture and the secretary general on issues relating to training policy, strategic aspects, and technical questions. In the context of this demanding and varied function, you adapt training offers to the needs of society, the working world, and higher levels of education. You constantly develop the strategy in the areas of secondary level II, upper vocational training, continuing education, and vocational guidance, and accompany major strategic projects. Furthermore, you lead the office in a spirit of respect and benevolence, strengthen collaboration within the office and with external partners, and create the necessary conditions so that the tasks entrusted to the office can be executed efficiently without losing sight of the set objectives and the solutions to be implemented. Finally, as a member of the steering committee of the Direction de l'instruction publique et de la culture, you actively participate in the strategic development of the Direction. Your profile Holder of a tertiary degree, you have completed additional training in personnel management and justify several years of experience in management positions. Furthermore, you are able to identify issues related to training policy and master political processes. Even in difficult situations, you manage to maintain the overview, act thoughtfully, and demonstrate resilience. In addition, you know the Bernese educational landscape well, have managed complex organizations and, ideally, have already worked in public administration. You also demonstrate a keen sense of service and loyalty, and are able to collaborate reliably with different stakeholders. Finally, you have perfect command of one of the two official languages of the canton (German or French) and have a very good level in the other language (at least level B2).
