Join the Finance Department as a Financial Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Team Lead, and help us maintain the highest standards of financial accuracy, compliance, and reporting excellence.
In this role, you will work in a fast-paced environment, managing a wide variety of accounting and financial reporting activities. You will use analytical skills in your day-to-day work, provide timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making, and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
More broadly, your role will be to ensure that all business transactions and events relevant to the company's financial position are recorded accurately, comprehensively, and systematically. Together with your team, you will ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles, regulatory requirements, policies, and standards.
You will contribute to providing internal and external stakeholders with a clear and reliable view of the company's financial position and performance. As a Financial Accountant, you will also support senior management with financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledger, prepare journal entries and produce various accounting schedules/reconciliation in accordance with various GAAPSs either for the bank in Switzerland (IFRS and ARB-FINMA) or for one of the foreign subsidiaries (local GAAP).
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings. Actively participate in the half-year and year-end closing, with responsibility for specific topics and notes to the financial statements. This includes preparation of answers to external auditors.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, unusual movements and ageing items.
- Review journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for banking transactions and financial instruments.
- Support the preparation of statutory and management financial statements.
- Contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial reporting where applicable.
- Take responsibility in accounting projects as assigned by Management,
- Provide accounting guidance and implement appropriate solutions for complex accounting issues and queries raised by various departments and foreign group entities
- Prepare miscellaneous regulatory filings (for the SNB or FINMA as example) as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma in accounting, finance or economics.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role ideally in the banking industry.
- You must be fluent in French and English (oral and written).
- You are adaptable and experienced in managing complex financial matters within a dynamic environment.
- You are meticulous, able to collaborate cross functionally and to work on several subjects in parallel, attentive to details with very good organisation skills.
- Strong understanding of the banking business, with the ability to see the bigger picture and understand the broader financial context.
- You have experience with IFRS and generally accepted accounting principles in Switzerland (Accounting Rules for Banks “ARB-FINMA” is a plus).
- Your skills in MS Office (Excel in particular) are excellent. Knowledge of PowerBI, SQL and/or Python are a plus.
- Knowledge of software Temenos T24 and OneStream is considered a plus.
