Digital Process Manager - Pathology

Your Tasks As Digital Process Manager Pathology, you will play a central role in designing and securing the digital transformation of our pathology services across all Swiss sites. You will ensure that digital workflows, scanner quality, accreditation standards, training levels, and AI-assisted diagnostic processes meet the highest operational and regulatory requirements. This is a key role at the intersection of laboratory practice, digital technology, quality management, and innovation. Digital Workflow & Quality Leadership • Harmonize scanning procedures and global digital workflows across all pathology sites, in close collaboration with chief technicians and pathologists. • Lead and oversee quality and accreditation activities related to digital pathology and AI applications in cooperation with the quality management team. • Monitor turnaround times (TAT) and ensure smooth daily management of quality control tasks. • Train technical and medical staff on digital infrastructure and software. Systems, Tools & Vendor Management • Serve as the main point of contact for all scanner vendors, IMS/LIS software vendors, and AI solution partners. • Manage and resolve case synchronization issues between IMS and LIS - particularly in situations where user permissions differ (e.g., limited access to case details for pathologists). • Oversee the performance of digital scanners, including monitoring blurry slide rates, scanning time, quality control pass rates per scan, and the number of technical bugs or failures. AI Monitoring & Innovation Tracking • Perform post-implementation monitoring of AI tools, including: • Algorithm performance • Adverse events • Impact on turnaround times (TAT) • Pathologist experience and feedback • Identification of improvement opportunities • Stay up to date with innovations in digital pathology and AI, recommending and evaluating new solutions for potential pilots. User Support, Site Coordination & Continuous Improvement • Collect feedback from users at all sites and transform insights into improvement actions. • Coordinate with on-site digital scanning technical staff to ensure high-quality routine operations. • Oversee periodic system evaluations (scanner checks, screen calibration, digital validation) and validate new users integrating into the digital workflow. Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance • Track evolving legal and regulatory requirements related to digital pathology, laboratory-developed tests (LDT), and AI technologies (e.g., reimbursement frameworks, IVDR developments). • Ensure compliance and prepare the organization for future regulatory changes affecting digital workflows. Your Profile Essential: • Solid experience in digital pathology, ideally in a pathology laboratory. • Understanding of quality management, accreditation standards, and specific requirements of digital systems in pathology. • Experience with IMS, LIS, slide scanners, or AI tools is a significant advantage. • Analytical mindset with the ability to monitor performance data and drive continuous improvement. • Required languages: English, plus French or German (ideally both).
