Director of DIREV

Job Description ## As Director in charge of the Direction de l-environnement industriel, urbain et rural (DIREV) within the Direction générale de l-environnement (DGE), you are part of its Executive Committee (CODIR) and are fully involved in its strategic management. The DIREV's specific mission within the DGE is the protection of the population and the environment against pollution, damage, and nuisances caused by human activities. The DIREV consists of three divisions: Air, climate and technological risks (ARC), Water protection (PRE), and Sanitation (ASS). Leading a multidisciplinary team of approximately 70 - 80 people, one of your main missions is to supervise the development and implementation of public policies for protection against environmental pollutants and to propose to the Director General of the DGE the strategic orientations and the evolution of the resulting legal and organizational frameworks. This key position includes a vast scope and, among others, the axes and skills summarized in the following: Responsibilities ## • Define strategic orientations and manage DIREV services in accordance with current legal and regulatory provisions, and by anticipating climatic, regulatory, and societal evolutions and their impacts • Lead and animate the DIREV, ensuring efficient use of the human and financial resources allocated to the direction's services and projects. Supervise strategic projects and their progress, participate in the DGE budget development process • Support managers and their teams in organizational transformations and skill development • Ensure the quality of relations with DIREV's strategic partners and the representation of the department within the relevant circles at the regional and communal levels. Contribute to the communication of environmental issues • Support the Director General in the fulfillment of his missions for the department and in the ORCA Executive Committee and represent the canton within the federal and intercantonal conferences or commissions in the field of the environment, according to the distribution of DGE missions For further details, you can refer to the job description accessible via this link. Qualifications ## • University Master's degree in the field of the environment or a title deemed equivalent • Training in the field of management and/or administration • Proven experience in one of the fields of environmental protection • Proven experience in leading a team • Desired experience within a public administration • Good knowledge of Swiss and cantonal environmental policy and institutions • Proven interest in the policy of combating polluting emissions and immissions and their management in a partnership perspective, taking all their dimensions into account • Knowledge of German (B2) The disclosure of any criminal record is required to exercise this function.
