L'Association pour le Bien des Aveugles et malvoyants (ABA)

is a private non-profit Genevan association. Created in 1901, its purpose is to improve the quality of life, integration, and autonomy of people with visual impairments residing in Geneva. With its three services, the Bibliothèque Braille Romande et livre parlé (BBR), the Centre de Compétences en Accessibilité (CCA), and the Centre d’Information et de Réadaptation (CIR), the Association advises the people concerned, their relatives, and carries out awareness actions with the general public. It is also active through the Genevan medico-social and political network and ensures the promotion of the interests of blind and visually impaired people, in order to improve the daily lives of people affected by blindness or visual impairment and to promote their school, professional, and social integration.

In order to strengthen the social sector of the Centre d’information et de réadaptation (CIR), we are looking for:

A Social Worker M/F at 80 % in CDI

Within a multidisciplinary service whose goal is to improve the quality of life, integration, and autonomy of visually impaired persons, you will be responsible for the social follow-up of our beneficiaries of all ages (care of children, young adults, people of AI and AVS age).

Job objectives:

In close collaboration and coordination with the occupational therapists of the Centre as well as all our partners (pluri and interdisciplinary care), the social worker integrates into a team of 7 collaborators and must ensure the following missions:

• Inform people of their rights, notably regarding social insurance
• Support people in current and/or occasional administrative steps to be taken to obtain benefits and ensure follow-up
• Offer people support aimed at social and/or professional integration
• Accompany people in the necessary steps aimed at preserving the financial balance of their budget
• Inform and guide people on the services of specialized services in the field of visual impairment as well as on the Genevan medico-social network
• Raise awareness, inform, and collaborate with close relatives or professionals on visual impairments and their impacts

Desired qualities and experiences:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a social worker. Skills in the field of social insurance
• Practice related to Disability Insurance (Assurance invalidité) benefits would be an asset
• Sense of organization and priorities
• Analytical and synthesis skills
• Communication skills, comfortable in human contact
• Rigor and equity
• Aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork and collaboration with numerous partners
• Good command of spoken and written French and ease of writing

Required training and knowledge:

• Recognized diploma as a social worker or a title deemed equivalent
• Good command of office tools
• Good knowledge of the Genevan medico-social network
