• Analysis of security and military policy developments in Russia and the post-Soviet space, as well as the preparation of well-founded reports for the competent authorities in Bern.
• Collection and evaluation of information from briefings, Russian and international media, specialist publications, think tanks, as well as other open sources.
• Participation in security policy and scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as target-group-oriented preparation of the findings obtained.
• Undertaking demanding oral and written translations as well as accompanying Swiss delegations as a translator.
• Representation of the Office of the Defense Attaché at selected events as well as maintenance of contacts with diplomatic, military, and security policy partners.

What makes you unique

• Completed university degree (or equivalent training), preferably in political science, international relations, security studies, history, law, or a comparable field of study
• Strong analytical skills, very good security policy judgment, as well as interest in Russia and the post-Soviet space
• Excellent editorial skills in German or French and business fluent English skills as well as Russian language skills in speaking and writing at least at level C1
• Officer of the Swiss Army with a good understanding of military structures, processes, and contexts
• High degree of independence, discretion, intercultural competence, as well as a confident and representative appearance in a politically sensitive environment

Tackling new security policy challenges!

The State Secretariat for Security Policy (SEPOS) is the competence center of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (VBS) for security policy and information security. It shapes the security policy of the Confederation and ensures its coherence. For this purpose, SEPOS pursues four focal points. It anticipates security policy changes and derives strategic options for action from them. It coordinates the security policy instruments with each other and coordinates national and international cooperations. A prerequisite for these activities is information security, which is guaranteed by SEPOS.
