As an Automatiker*in, you develop electrical and pneumatic controls. You assemble and wire control cabinets, carry out commissioning and maintenance work on controls and systems. In addition, you process plastic and metal housings, solder components onto circuit boards, and create cables for connecting laboratory equipment and controls. Repairing faulty devices is also part of your area of responsibility. You process orders and projects together with other specialists. Your training The apprenticeship lasts four years. Automatiker*innen complete their practical training in the training company. This is supplemented by inter-company courses. You will attend vocational school for a maximum of two days per week. During the first half of the apprenticeship, a broad foundation of knowledge and skills is laid in the basic training. The focus is on mechanical and electrical production technology, automation modules with topics such as measurement technology, circuit technology, electrical machines, measurement and control technology, as well as job-specific occupational safety.
