Deputy Cantonal Chemist, Head of Laboratories and Water Inspection

Job Description ## As Deputy Cantonal Chemist, you will hold a key position within the Office de la consommation (OFCO), attached to the Département de l-agriculture, de la durabilité et du climat et du numérique. As a true partner to the Cantonal Chemist, you will assist her in steering consumer health protection missions and ensure her substitution in the operational and strategic management of the office. You will participate in the supervision of the teams attached to the position, coordinate complex and cross-functional files, and actively contribute to risk management as well as institutional decisions. A proactive proposer, you will accompany the evolution of services, develop synergies, and incorporate your actions into a continuous improvement process. Responsibilities ## • Assist the cantonal chemist in the Office's strategy and participate in the cross-functional steering of the Office as a member of the management and deputy cantonal chemist. • Direct the various areas of the Laboratoires et inspection des eaux division, ensure steering, and manage human and financial resources. • Ensure the processing of decision reports in accordance with current cantonal and federal legal provisions. Implement cantonal and federal policies. • Fulfill the role of principal scientific respondent in external relations. Represent the Office in cantonal and intercantonal Commissions. • Assist the cantonal chemist in managing the quality management system (QMS) while meeting the requirements of the system and ensuring work consistency with the functioning of the laboratories. Qualifications ## • Doctorate in sciences • Federal diploma in official food control (DCAl) and Federal diploma in management of official food control (DDCAl) - possibility to complete these training programs during the first two years of service • Recognized training and/or experience in management • Good knowledge of German and English • Strong interest in public service, good knowledge of its functioning as well as cantonal and federal structures • Ease in communication, planning, and organization • High capacity for work, reliability, rigor, availability • Sense of responsibility and public service ethics • Global vision and sense of perspective • Presence at the laboratory in case of crises (poisoning, etc.) • Driver's license and availability of private vehicle for professional travel WHO ARE WE? ## The Office de la consommation (OFCO) has the mission to contribute to the protection of consumers as well as the proper functioning of economic practices.
