The Schweizerische Vogelwarte Sempach is a non-profit foundation for ornithology and bird protection. It monitors the native birdlife, researches its way of life, and advocates for threatened birdlife. It cares for injured and orphaned birds, informs and advises the population, and operates a visitor center in Sempach. The Vogelwarte employs over 200 employees in all parts of the country.
In this project, the Vogelwarte researches how biodiversity promotion areas influence the insect world. The focus of the surveys is on beneficial species that play a central role in the ecosystem and in agricultural production.

Intern in the Erlenhof Impact Control Project (100%)

Your tasks

• Collaboration in the research project to verify the effect of biodiversity promotion areas on ground beetles and ladybugs.
• Fieldwork: Setting traps, collecting samples
• Laboratory work: Data processing of the samples (counting individuals, measuring biomass etc.)
• Technical support in the further development of wildlife-friendly agriculture.

Your profile

• You are enthusiastic about the fascinating world of insects and you are interested in their identification.
• Knowledge of insect species is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
• You enjoy working independently, precisely, and with an eye for detail.
• You are a communicative personality and value cooperation with farmers.
• Training in the biological or agricultural science field is an advantage.
• You possess a driving license Cat. B.
• You have sound German language skills for secure communication in everyday work.
