For the Science IT Infrastructure and Services department, we are looking for a Your tasks • Development, maintenance and support of the high-level measurement orchestration software for experiments at the Swiss Light Source SLS: BEC, Beamline Experiment Control • Support of critical experiments in real time by assisting scientists before, during and after measurements in the use, extension and integration of new functionalities into the existing system • Act as a translator and facilitator between scientists and specialists in various fields, bridging gaps in collaborative discussions and code development • Provide expertise to ongoing and future projects by improving graphical interfaces, tools and libraries, including upstream open source projects • Close collaboration with scientists and expert groups at PSI as well as with colleagues from national and international institutions Your profile • PhD in natural sciences, computer science, engineering or mathematics, or equivalent professional experience • Proven expertise in the development of high-quality scientific software solutions in Python, following best practices such as version control, CI/CD, testing and documentation • Experience with large-scale control systems, in particular EPICS, and hardware integration • Availability to travel occasionally for workshops and conferences as well as flexibility in working hours, if necessary due to project deadlines or incident management • Excellent communication skills and team spirit • Proficiency in written and spoken English; skills in German or the willingness to learn German are an advantage We offer Our institution is based on interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration.
