Head of Quality Food

For our client, a successful and internationally oriented company from the consumer goods industry based in the Basel region, we are looking for a successor as of now or by arrangement as:

Head of Quality Food 80-100%

Tasks:

• Technical advice to the management on quality issues
• Implementation and ensuring compliance with quality guidelines
• Ensuring a comprehensive overview of the release process as well as a clear distribution of responsibilities within the team
• Instruction and coordination of corrective and preventive measures
• Main contact person for quality assurance questions towards authorities
• Communication on the topics of nutrition and quality with customers, retailers, associations and suppliers, including through statements and participation in working groups (Verband der Experten für Säuglingsnahrung)
• Monitoring of product tests and relevant publications
• Preparation of statements on quality assurance topics
• Ensuring efficient communication and smooth processes at internal and external interfaces, especially with other departments and subsidiaries
• Support in product development, in projects as well as in technical questions regarding quality, nutrition and sustainability
• Co-responsibility for the preparation of entry into new export markets in cooperation with the Regulatory team
• Implementation and coordination of requirements of the Demeter association
• Further development of the team, the operational processes as well as the internal and external interfaces
• Processing and coordination of ad-hoc requests and work packages
• Member of the HACCP and crisis team
• Active management of crisis situations with corresponding decision-making responsibility
• Responsibility for audits within the framework of ISO 22000, Halal, EU and Swiss Bio certifications as well as certifications by industry associations

What you bring with you:

• Completed university degree in food sciences, food technology, nutritional sciences, biology, chemistry or a comparable natural science discipline
• Several years of sound professional experience in quality management or in food safety within the food industry
• Leadership experience as well as enjoyment in developing a team professionally and personally
• Sound knowledge of quality management systems, HACCP and relevant food safety standards is an advantage
• Experience in audit management and in dealing with certification systems
• Very good understanding of European and Swiss food legislation
• Experience in an international environment and confidence in dealing with different stakeholders – from authorities and suppliers to senior management
• Strong analytical and organizational skills as well as a pragmatic, solution-oriented way of working
• Sovereignty and decisiveness – even in demanding or time-critical situations
• Business fluent German and English skills in speaking and writing

Nice to haves:

• Experience in the field of infant formula
• Knowledge of ISO 22000 as well as in Bio and Halal certifications
• Experience in the field of Regulatory Affairs
• Experience with international markets or the preparation of new export markets
• Spanish skills
