Its International Police Cooperation Directorate ensures collaboration between the Confederation and the cantons as well as with foreign partners, manages the national contact points for information exchange and the processing of international searches (e.g., via Interpol, Europol, and Schengen) and guarantees police coordination in cross-border and international situations. The Engagement and Alarm Central Division -- SIRENE CH acts as the national contact point for the exchange of information and the processing of police searches within the framework of the Schengen information system. It processes police requests from Switzerland and abroad at all hours of the day and night, coordinates their transmission to the competent national authorities, and provides support for international search and investigation procedures as well as for the management of special situations.
