The Schweizerische Vogelwarte Sempach is a non-profit foundation for ornithology and bird protection. It monitors the native bird population, researches its way of life, and advocates for threatened birdlife. It cares for injured and orphaned birds, informs and advises the population, and operates a visitor center in Sempach. The Vogelwarte employs over 200 employees in all parts of the country.

The Lebensraum Kulturland department is committed to promoting wildlife-friendly agriculture and the associated habitat management and design. The team carries out implementation projects with partners, advises farmers, specialist agencies, and cantons on agriculture and biodiversity measures, conducts training and further education, is involved in agricultural training, and manages knowledge transfer and public relations.

Intern in the Kulturland Department (80%- 100%)

Your tasks

• Collaboration on events and content in the field of environmental education as well as on agricultural consultations
• Data preparation and evaluation of various data types in QField, QGIS, and Excel
• Collaboration in the development of technical fundamentals
• Support of the team in various projects to promote the birds of the Kulturland
• Literature reviews
• Editorial collaboration on reports and fact sheets
• Fieldwork in various projects in almost any weather

Your profile

• You have training in the field of biology or agricultural sciences.
• You are interested in the further development of a sustainable, biodiversity-promoting, and resource-conserving agriculture.
• You are willing to perform occasional assignments outside of office hours.
• You have ornithological knowledge or other species knowledge.
• You work independently and in a structured manner while also bringing joy to working in a team.
• You have very good German language skills for secure communication in everyday work.
