Specialist Network Analysis

In the Canton of Thurgau, all residents should feel safe. To ensure this, the approximately 600 employees of the Kantonspolizei Thurgau work around the clock with a modern organization and in close contact with the population.

In Operative Auswertung, large amounts of data from telecommunications surveillance are technically analyzed and professionally classified. The employees recognize patterns and connections in complex telecommunications and mobile network data and support criminal police investigations as competent contact persons for technical questions.

Your main tasks

• Technical analysis, advice, and classification of telecommunications surveillance measures as well as technical assessment of location, movement, and signaling data
• Analysis of large structured and unstructured data sets, with a focus on complex mobile network and network data as well as digital traces
• Continuous tracking, evaluation, and classification of technological developments in the field of networks, mobile communications, and telecommunications
• Co-responsibility for the smooth operation of federal applications in the area of postal and telecommunications traffic
• Technical and professional support for demanding criminal police investigations in the area of mobile communications and telecommunications
• Participation in interdisciplinary project and specialist groups as well as active construction and maintenance of a professional network
• Creation of meaningful reports and visualizations that present the results obtained clearly and appropriately for the target group
• Undertaking weekend and on-call duties to ensure readiness for action around the clock

Your profile

• Degree from a university or a higher technical college in a technical field -- for example, computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or comparable topics
• Several years of experience with IP networks and telecommunications systems, especially switching, routing, IPv4/IPv6 as well as overlay/underlay architectures
• In-depth knowledge of VoIP and the relevant signaling and media protocols, especially SIP, SDP, and RTP/RTCP, as well as a good understanding of fixed-line and mobile network architectures
• Practical experience in packet, protocol, and log analysis as well as cross-system correlation of communication data
• Experience with the analysis and representation of large data sets
• Ability to communicate complex technical facts in an understandable, precise, and practical manner
• Analytical, structured, and independent way of working
• Experience in a criminal police or security-relevant environment is an advantage
• Proficient communication and cooperation skills in dealing with internal and external partners
• Proficient German in speaking and writing, good English skills as well as good editorial skills
• High willingness for continuous further education and openness to new technologies
