Head of Workshop and Vocational Training Automation

The EMS Institute for Development of Mechatronic Systems at the Department of Technology conducts practical research and development in robotics, automation, applied dynamics, and product development. Our modern workshop manufactures prototypes for research projects and is simultaneously the training site for our automation apprentices. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an engaged personality as Head of Workshop and Vocational Training Automation starting January 01, 2027, or by arrangement. Our modern workshop combines two exciting tasks: it enables the practical development and manufacture of prototypes for research and development projects and simultaneously offers a versatile training environment for our automation apprentices. In this versatile role, you will additionally take responsibility for workshop operations. ###

Your Field of Activity

• Technical and organizational management of the workshop as well as ensuring safe operations
• Planning and implementation of the practical basic training of our automation apprentices according to the educational plan
• Individual support, promotion, and assessment of the apprentices as well as preparation for the qualification procedure
• Coordination of infrastructure, maintenance, and upkeep of machines and systems
• Manufacture and assembly of mechatronic prototypes for research and development projects
• Collaboration with students, employees, vocational schools, and inter-company course centers
• Taking on the function as the safety officer of the institute

Your Expertise

• Vocational basic training as Automatiker/in EFZ or equivalent technical training
• Several years of professional experience in automation, control, or drive technology
• Vocational trainer course or willingness to complete it; experience with apprentices is an advantage
• Enjoyment in working with young people, pedagogical skill, and patience
• Independent, structured way of working, team spirit, and high safety awareness
