PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The vision of the Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Care Division (PPC) is to promote health for all by anticipating change and integrating promotion, prevention and care into all areas of health and disease in order to respond to the greatest current health burdens and the challenges of tomorrow. Within the PPC Division, the HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (HTH) Department aims to lead the global effort to end HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections, by providing norms and standards, and ensuring that every person has equitable access to person-centered scientific evidence, services and innovations, wherever they live. DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS Perform the data analyses necessary for global reports relating to HIV, hepatitis and STIs. Prepare the content of global reports relating to HIV, hepatitis and STIs (e.g. text, graphics, tables, web pages). Develop and manage data dashboards to disseminate key results from data analyses relating to hepatitis and STIs. Produce customized analyses and datasets required by other HTH units, other WHO departments and external partners, in response to requests. Contribute to the review and validation of HIV-related data collected annually from WHO Member States in collaboration with UNAIDS. Contribute to the review and validation of hepatitis and STI-related data reported to WHO by Member States. Execute all other related tasks assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Essential Education: An advanced university degree (master's level or higher) related to health and health sciences including substantial content relating to data analysis (e.g. epidemiology, medical statistics). An undergraduate university degree in a highly quantitative discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics, economics, computer science). Desirable: A PhD related to communicable diseases. Essential Experience: At least seven years of experience related to the collection, validation, review, analysis and reporting of health-related data. At least two years of experience in developing data-driven web reports using R and the R shiny, R Markdown and ggplot2 packages. Experience in conducting research studies. Publications in peer-reviewed journals. Two years of experience in projects, studies or analyses related to developing countries. Experience working with governmental, academic and international organizations. Demonstrated international exposure. Desirable: Experience working with WHO or the United Nations system. Experience with data repositories and online systems for data collection and management. Experience in the analyses required for major global reports. Experience with HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis or STI data. Skills Excellent knowledge of principles and methods related to statistical data analysis. Advanced knowledge and skills in analyzing large datasets using R or Stata. Proven expertise in developing data-driven documents, graphics, tables and web pages using R and the R shiny, R Markdown and ggplot2 packages. Proven expertise in web technologies such as HTML, Javascript and Javascript graphics libraries. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a proven ability to prepare high-quality presentations. Ability to be proactive/take initiative and work independently. Excellent ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Desirable: Intermediate knowledge of French. RREMUNERATION WHO salaries for professional category staff are calculated in US dollars. Remuneration for the above position includes an annual base salary starting from 86 027 USD (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and which currently amounts to 6 072 USD per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, family leave and an education grant for dependent children.
