The General Secretariat of the DDPS is the actual staff organization of the department. It assists the head of the department in his role as a member of the Federal Council and in the management of the DDPS, develops the political strategy as well as the directives for the administrative units and supports and monitors their implementation. Furthermore, it provides planning, controlling, and coordination at the departmental level in the transversal sectors Personnel, Finance, Law, and IT as well as in the Security Policy and Territory and Environment sectors.
