The Federal Inspectorate for High Voltage (ESTI) in Fehraltorf (Zürich) is the supervisory and control authority for electrical installations that are not subject to the Federal Office of Transport. It ensures that these installations are planned, constructed, and maintained safely and in an environmentally friendly manner. This includes high-voltage installations, low-voltage installations, and extra-low-voltage installations. Furthermore, due to a mandate from the Confederation, the ESTI is responsible for the market surveillance of electrical products. In addition, in cooperation with Suva, it investigates accidents in connection with electrical installations.
