The Department of Surgery ensures the care of female and male patients 24h/24, both in elective and emergency cases requiring surgical intervention. It represents a center of excellence, not only Swiss, but also European in several fields and in several of its surgical specialties. Within this department, hand and peripheral nerve surgery is attached to the Service of orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the locomotor system and constitutes the most important center of this type in Switzerland. It offers cutting-edge care covering all fields of reconstructive orthopedic surgery and adult traumatology, including complex and highly specialized situations. The service performs more than 6,500 surgical interventions each year and ensures approximately 45,000 consultations. It relies on a multidisciplinary approach, high-level infrastructure, and a strong involvement in university teaching and clinical research. This position is newly created and is part of the ALTER deployment which aims to ensure the compliance of work organization with the Labor Act (LTr). Senior Registrar with specialist title for a hand specialization - 100% As a senior registrar holding the specialist title in orthopedic surgery, you will join the hand surgery unit as part of a specialization. The unit provides 24h/24 emergency care for the hand and wrist for the entire canton of Geneva (treatment of wounds, wrist or finger fractures, etc.) as well as dedicated consultations for various pathologies such as hand osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, etc. In this function, you ensure full clinical activity, including surgical interventions and the care of in-hospital female and male patients. You also actively contribute to the unit's projects. You demonstrate rigor, clinical sense, and a great capacity for analysis in managing sometimes complex situations, including the management of short-term complications. Thanks to your sense of organization and your ability to prioritize, you efficiently ensure your clinical activities while responding to multiple requests (patients, telephones, correspondence, meetings). You evolve in a demanding environment, at the interface of care, teaching, and research. In this capacity, you collaborate closely with the entire medico-nursing team and ensure clear, fluid, and respectful communication, both with your colleagues and with female and male patients, by adapting your speech to their understanding. Relying on your team spirit, you demonstrate solidarity in the face of unforeseen events and high workloads. As a senior registrar, you participate actively in the supervision and training of intern doctors, adopting a mentoring posture and sharing your expertise. You take part in the on-call duties of the hand surgery unit. Clinical activity is part of a structured and demanding postgraduate training pathway aiming for specialization in hand surgery. Qualifications You hold a federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Commission for Medical Professions of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO). You benefit from an FMH title in orthopedic surgery or FMH in hand surgery, or you have a title deemed equivalent recognized by MEBEKO and possess the cantonal right of practice or are able to obtain it before your start of duty from the cantonal physician of Geneva. You justify confirmed experience in hand surgery allowing you to be autonomous and wish to specialize in hand surgery. Your previous experience is ideally carried out in a university environment with a high volume of activity. For non-French speaking persons, the French level C1 in spoken and written tests is required. You have excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible, committed person and demonstrate discretion.
