December 2026 or by agreement Place of work: Gampelen The Witzwil Correctional Facility executes sentences and measures for 184 adult men in open custody as well as in administrative detention under foreign law. The inmates are guided and promoted in various professions in agriculture, trade and supply according to work-pedagogical principles. In the execution of sentences, around 140 employees consistently work towards the goal of socialization and reduction of recidivism of prisoners. Production goals and execution goals do not compete with each other, but complement each other. Your tasks As a foreman, you primarily maintain and repair machines and support the other specialist departments of our mechanical workshops. In the absence of our workshop manager, you take over the management in the agricultural machinery department. At your workplace, you lead and promote a group of inmates according to work-pedagogical principles. You work interdisciplinary with other foremen and execution officers. Your profile You have completed training as an agricultural machinery mechanic or training in a related profession with a federal certificate of competence and ideally have several years of professional experience. Working with inmates, also from other cultural backgrounds, is both a challenge and an incentive for you. As a resilient, established and critical personality, you remain calm in difficult situations. You enjoy working in a team and are interested and open to new things. You regularly apply IT skills (Office) and instruct inmates in French during work. About the Office for Execution of Sentences The Office for Execution of Sentences (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) with around 1000 employees.
