As a Produktionsmechaniker*in at Lonza, you will work in workshops and production facilities. You will process metal components and assemble them into devices, apparatuses, and machines. The Produktionsmechaniker perform maintenance work on the chemical and biological production plants. You complete the assignments and projects precisely and independently, partly also in a team and together with other specialists. You primarily perform planned maintenance work. Your training The apprenticeship lasts three years. Produktionsmechaniker*innen are trained in the training company and attend vocational school for at most one day per week. During the 1st half of the apprenticeship, a broad foundation of knowledge and skill is laid in the basic training. The focus is on work techniques such as manual and machine manufacturing technology, assembly technology, joining technology, commissioning, maintenance, and subject-specific occupational safety. In the 2nd half of the apprenticeship, the specialized training for operational maintenance work follows. In this training phase, the trainees deepen their knowledge and skills through exemplary learning on production orders and projects.
