Team Leader / Deputy Department Head, 80-100 %

The Amt für Zusatzleistungen zur AHV/IV (AZL) is a service department of the Sozialdepartement of the Stadt Zürich. It ensures the provision of an adequate material existence for low-income Zurich residents. It distributes supplementary benefits to AHV and IV pension recipients, bridging benefits for older unemployed persons, contributions to relief offers and acute and transitional care, as well as the energy cost allowance. Furthermore, the AZL is responsible for the distribution of public care contributions for inpatient long-term care as well as the municipal solidarity contribution.

Do you want to take on responsibility, lead a small team and truly make a professional difference? Then you have come to the right place. For our Fachabteilung 3, we are looking for an engaged, motivated personality as a Team Leader, starting immediately or by arrangement.

Tasks ##

• You lead a team of five or six employees - personally and professionally, with overview and heart.
• You represent the department management comprehensively and are an important contact person in everyday life.
• You assume professional co-responsibility for your subject area and help develop it.
• You keep an eye on workflows and ensure that quantity and quality are correct.
• You actively participate in internal specialist conferences, department meetings and other exchange formats.
• You independently manage your own secretariat with approx. 50 cases.

Until at the latest the end of the year 2027, the team leader position is designed as a floating team leader position and the area of application in the various departments is variable according to need. The definitive takeover of the team will take place after the regular retirement of the current team leader.

Profile ##

• Commercial or equivalent training
• Further training in the field of social insurance (e.g., Fachausweis Sozialversicherungen) or the willingness to complete it.
• Profound knowledge in the ZL area as well as in adjacent social insurances
• Leadership experience is an advantage - decisiveness and assertiveness are important to us
• You lead confidently, friendly, goal-oriented and empathically
• Analytical, responsible and very expeditious way of working; confident in written expression
• Genuine interest in social issues and understanding for the concerns of disabled and elderly people
• Integrity, loyalty and confidentiality are a matter of course for you
• Willingness to work deeply into the specialist area of the department (assistance cases incl. SEBE, extraordinary financing, foreign pensions) - and enjoyment in dealing with numbers
