Project Description

You will be working at a leading Swiss insurance company and supporting a strategic initiative to further develop the commercial insurance business for SMEs. The focus of the project is the optimization of alignment with customer needs, the further development of the product offering, and the modernization of framework agreements.

You will work in a dynamic environment and contribute to ensuring that our underwriting practices remain competitive and meet current market standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Analysis and revision of the existing alignment with customer needs in the area of property and liability insurance.
• Evaluation and further development of insurance products for SMEs to ensure their competitiveness in the market.
• Review and optimization of underwriting guidelines, principles, and control mechanisms.
• Definition and assessment of suitable underwriting limits and deductibles, taking into account industry and type of coverage.
• Carrying out comprehensive analyses of current market practices as well as internal underwriting processes.
• Optimization of framework agreements to increase operational efficiency.
• Documentation of optimized processes, recommendations, and standardized work instructions.
• Close cooperation with cross-departmental stakeholders from Sales, Business Development, and Underwriting.
• Presentation of strategic insights and concrete recommendations for action to specialist teams and management.

Requirements

Must-haves

• Several years of professional experience in the Swiss SME commercial insurance market.
• Proven practical experience as an Underwriter, Technical Underwriter, or Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of property and liability insurance.
• Sound technical expertise in property and/or liability insurance.
• Very good practical knowledge in the areas of underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and portfolio management instruments.
• Strong ability to work independently and create immediate value with minimal onboarding time.
• Fluent German and/or French skills.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and communicative skills as well as high problem-solving competence.

Nice-to-haves

• Specialized experience in Technical Insurance (Engineering) or in professional liability insurance.
• Practical experience with broker distribution structures and the associated contractual agreements.
• Sound knowledge of operational underwriting processes and insurance business models.
