Lead PLC Engineer R&D Would you like to actively shape the automation of future machines and equipment and thereby set technological standards? Our Chocolate & Flavor Creation business unit develops innovative machines, equipment, and automation solutions for the processing of cocoa, chocolate, coffee, and nuts. As Technical Lead Automation Engineer PLC in our R&D team, you will take technical responsibility for sophisticated automation developments and accompany new technologies from the first idea through validation to market launch. This is where you will shine You take technical responsibility for sophisticated automation developments and accompany new machines and equipment from the first idea to successful market launch You design future-oriented, modular PLC software architectures and develop reusable solutions with Siemens and Rockwell for our next generation of machines You implement and document new functions for control, visualization, motion control, and drive technology and integrate the results of risk analyses into the safety software according to DIN EN ISO 13849 You plan and implement the verification and validation of new developments – with unit tests and digital twins as well as on prototypes, test plants, and at selected customer applications You analyze technological requirements and test results, derive innovative solutions and continuous improvements from them, and work closely with design, product management, project management, and other R&D specialist departments These are the required skills Completed studies in automation, electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechatronics, or software engineering or a comparable technical training with corresponding further education Profound experience in the development of complex PLC software for machines or equipment as well as proficient handling of Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Automation Studio Experience in the conception of modular and reusable software architectures as well as profound knowledge in safety PLC programming, visualization, motion control, drive, and control technology Strong understanding of modern development and test methods as well as familiarity with industrial communication solutions and tools such as Git and Azure DevOps; knowledge of unit tests, digital twins, structured text, or other programming languages is an advantage Analytical and creative way of working, initiative, and technical leadership competence as well as very good German and English skills and willingness to travel internationally by around 10 % Do you have questions?
