Job Description ## As Cantonal Inspector of Food Safety and Consumption, you will hold a key position within the Office de la consommation (OFCO), attached to the Département de l-agriculture, de la durabilité et du climat et du numérique. As a field actor and local manager, you coordinate and support the team of inspectors in carrying out official controls, inspections, and the monitoring of risks related to food safety and consumer protection. In close collaboration with the Cantonal Chemist and the Deputy Cantonal Chemist, you contribute to the implementation of the office's strategic orientations and the development of services. You are the guarantor of a consistent, harmonized, and demanding application of control practices, placing consumer safety at the heart of every action. As a dynamic, unifying person and a source of proposals, you support the teams in daily challenges and contribute actively to the continuous improvement of the service.  Responsibilities ## • Direct, manage, and animate the body of food and household object inspectors and the staff of the bureau cantonal des poids et mesures (BCPM) • Coordinate and ensure the technical and scientific consumer protection activities of the food and household object inspectorate, throughout the cantonal territory • Anticipate and organize the continuing education of the staff of the food and household object inspector bodies and the staff of the bureau cantonal des poids et mesures (BCPM) • Represent the Inspectorat des denrées alimentaires et des objets usuels and ensure external relations and information For further information, please consult the job description by clicking HERE or contact Madame Lucie Marie Catiau, head of office and cantonal chemist by email at lucie.catiau@vd.ch or by telephone at 021 316 41.80. Qualifications ## • Master's degree in food sciences or in a field related to food safety or a title deemed equivalent • Federal diploma in official food control (DCAl) and Federal diploma in the direction of official food control (DDCAl) - possibility to complete these training courses during the first two years of the position • Field experience and in-depth knowledge in the field of food safety of at least 5 years • Recognized training and/or experience in management • Sense of responsibility and public service ethics • Global vision and sense of perspective • Organization and time management • Conflict management • Leadership • Driver's license and availability of a private vehicle for professional travel • Occasionally perform inspections during the night, early in the morning as well as on Saturday and Sunday WHO ARE WE? ## The Office de la consommation (OFCO) has the mission to contribute to the protection of female and male consumers as well as to the proper functioning of economic practices.
