Here, in accordance with political guidelines, the strategic foundations, the armed forces development and the army and armament planning are developed, and tasks in the international security context are performed. The leadership, management and coordination of all cross-cutting areas (personnel, finance, real estate) also fall within the responsibility of the Army Staff. The Swiss Army employs over 9'000 employees in four military and around 200 civilian professions -- and this at 110 locations throughout Switzerland.
