Department Head of Machining - Manufacturing & Training (M/F)

Location Neuchâtel Availability Immediately Type Fixed Reference 41324 Published on 10/07/2026 Mandated by one of our clients, we are looking for a: Job description ### The Department Head supervises the daily operations of the internal machining department, ensuring efficient production, compliance with quality and safety standards, and optimization of resources. This position involves developing production schedules and implementing process improvements to achieve departmental objectives. Additionally, the function includes responsibility for the Apprentice Center, with direct responsibility for the entire Polymechanic CFC training program. Main responsibilities: • Define and implement manufacturing strategies for milling and turning machines (CNC machines) to achieve defined objectives (machine utilization rates, productive hours) • Ensure a high level of quality by minimizing the non-conformity rate • Ensure the proper implementation of the 4-year apprenticeship program, to guarantee optimal and efficient allocation of training hours and obtain the Polymechanic CFC within the deadlines • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction, implement solutions to increase efficiency and productivity • Define key performance indicators (KPI) and dashboards to monitor operational performance and make necessary adjustments • Train and support teams on new processes and improvement opportunities • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for the department's main processes • Ensure that all processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and operational standards (ISO and ESG) Profile ### Desired profile: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field • Proven experience in team management • Solid knowledge of various machining equipment • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint) • Very good knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC desired) • Knowledge of SAP is an asset • Ability to unite and motivate cross-functional teams, direct and indirect collaborators • Excellent relational and communication skills • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills • Languages: French and English, another language is an asset • Knowledge of industry-specific regulatory norms and requirements Benefits: • A motivating and stimulating position with opportunities for growth • The opportunity to take on many challenges and contribute to the success of an international company • A company culture focused on human values • A good balance between professional and private life Department Head of Machining - Manufacturing & Training (M/F) / Fixed
