Research Associate AI and Digitalization in Production (50 %) Do you want to participate at the interface of digitalization, Industry 4\.0 and applied research? As part of two Innosuisse projects, we are developing an AI-based assistance system for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) as well as a hardware system solution for end-to-end automated material flows in the Smart Factory. The Institut für Produktdesign, Entwicklung und Konstruktion IPEK at the OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule accompanies companies throughout the entire product lifecycle – from the first idea through development and implementation to the after-sales sector. The institute combines experts from different disciplines surrounding the product and, thanks to its interdisciplinary orientation, develops holistic solutions for complex issues. Further information about the IPEK can be found at: OST IPEK Research Associate AI and Digitalization in Production (50 %) Your tasks Operational coordination of the cooperation with industry and research partners as well as internal teams and departments within the framework of the Innosuisse projects Technical and methodical cooperation in defined work packages for the development of innovative solutions for industrial production systems with a focus on AI and digitalization and automation/embedded systems Ensuring goal-oriented, structured, and timely project implementation Close support of the project management in planning, implementation, and documentation of the projects Support in institute activities in applied research and development as well as in teaching Your qualification Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, business informatics, electrical engineering, production technology, computer science, or a comparable field of study Interest in digitalization, Industry 4\.0, automation, embedded engineering, and modern production systems Basic understanding of production processes as well as ideally initial points of contact with MES systems Affinity for generative AI and its integration into existing IT and production environments Knowledge of low-code/no-code approaches, data analysis or programming, as well as simple mechanical development and embedded engineering are an advantage Structured, methodical, and reliable way of working Confident appearance in the coordination and alignment with different stakeholders Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation between research, industry, and teaching Strong communication, solution-oriented, and committed personality We offer Participation in innovative Innosuisse projects with high practical relevance Exciting environment at the interface of applied research, development, industry, and teaching Opportunity to actively help shape forward-looking questions regarding AI, digitalization, and Industry 4\.0 Collaboration with industry and research partners in an interdisciplinary project team Versatile insights into modern production systems, MES applications, and AI-based assistance solutions Independent activity with scope for design A committed team as well as a lively university environment with campus spirit Opportunity to complete a Master's degree alongside work and to specifically combine practical project work with personal development The position is initially limited to one year with the option of extension.
